There’s a back story here: years and years ago, we sent this to her and my late uncle, James Ward, as a gag gift. We had been in the practice for years of trading goofy gifts, and this had been at their house in Old Town, one of Chicago’s venerable old urban districts, for years. I was delighted to receive it, until it started moving around the house mysteriously. Reminds me of that great old 1946 sci-fi classic, “The Beast With Five Fingers”, starring none other than Peter Lorre…..
